A special highlight of the 2026 Street Art Festival was the large 3D mural by Lydia and Vanessa Hitzfeld on Valoisplatz. As a highlight partner for the 3D artwork, Sparkasse Wilhelmshaven supported this unique artistic experience, helping to make one of the festival’s visual highlights possible. The two artists brought their many years of experience, great passion, and impressive skill in street painting to Wilhelmshaven.
In addition to photorealistic motifs, reproductions of old masters’ paintings, and her own designs, Vanessa Hitzfeld focuses particularly on 3D street art. She began her artistic career with an apprenticeship in stained glass, and later studied fine arts at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. She has already received numerous international awards for her skill; in 2012, she earned an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for what was then the world’s largest 3D street painting.
Lydia Hitzfeld has also been a fixture in the street art scene for many years. The freelance artist began working in this unique art form in 2004 and, in addition to traditional street art, is particularly passionate about illusionistic 3D paintings. She has achieved success in numerous competitions both nationally and internationally and has participated in world record-breaking projects in the field of 3D street art, among other things.
This year, Lydia and Vanessa Hitzfeld collaborated to create a large-scale 3D artwork that played with reality and perspective.
