In 2019, not only the 9th edition of the International StreetArt Festival was celebrated, but also the 150th birthday of the city of Wilhelmshaven.
This year, 30 artists* participated in the competition in Marktstraße. On Valoisplatz, the German-Russian artist Nikolaj Arndt painted a realistic 3D image on the theme of "Gulliver's Travels". In the NordseePassage, the "Selfmadecrew" from Berlin offered a TapeArt workshop for children and created a huge portrait of the Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge on a shop window, consisting exclusively of adhesive tape. The bodypainters worked with special effects for the first time and enhanced their models with prostheses of horns and spikes. In addition to the Children & Youth StreetArt Festival, the Creative Studio offered an entertaining program for the younger visitors.
During the 9th International StreetArt Festival, the traditional program of street painting was extended in cooperation with the Getting Up! Foundation from Heerlen (Netherlands) and Achen. The foundation was brought forth as an initiative within the framework of "Urban Culture" to contribute to the development and enlightenment of the urban scene in a variety of ways.
In addition to an exhibition at the Kunsthalle, a Container Jam took place in which wooden panels attached to eight overseas containers were spray-painted by international artists. Three murals were also created as part of this project.
