In August 2023 the visitors awaits a colorful spectacle in Wilhelmshaven city centre. Let yourself be surprised by international artists and their impressive street art works!
It's not just the streets that are transformed into fascinating works of art during the StreetArt Festival weekend. Your own body can also become a canvas. Over the years, body painting has become an integral part of the festival program. Silke Kirchhoff and her team transform models live with a steady hand and various techniques into walking works of art that can be admired in the pedestrian zone after completion.
Interactive art can be experienced on the Rambla in Bahnhofstraße at the height of the bus station. Here, Dutch artist Peter Westerink is setting up an artistic playground. On Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., every visitor will have the opportunity to actively participate in the festival. The "Streetfun Game Zone" is a kind of creative playground. The artist is looking forward to many participants and encourages to join in, have fun and be creative together. All activities offered are free of charge.
For visitors who want to get creative themselves, there will be various hands-on activities such as spray-painting jute bags as part of the popular "Creative Atelier". On the Rambla, for example, the "Glücksfähnchen" (lucky flags) action will take place. Whether young or old, everyone can join in, live out their artistic streak and create a very special memory on paper. Whether bright colors, inspiring patterns or powerful messages - creativity can be given free rein here. The designed paper flags are then gradually assembled into an imposing chain of flags that invites visitors to marvel and admire.
At another station of the creative studio, visitors young and old have the opportunity to decorate jute bags purchased at the Infopoint with a quote of their choice using spray paint.
Spray painting of bags:
Friday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

"The Night Watch" by Rembrandt van Rijn, one of the most important paintings in the history of Dutch art, will be presented in full splendor and true to the original as a replica - including the previously missing parts that are not normally on display in the Rijksmuseum. From August 1 to 7, the North Sea Passage will become the stage for a fascinating live demonstration. The project is conceived and produced by Peter Westerink, founder of Planet Streetpainting from the Netherlands. Two talented street artists, Julie Purcell from the U.S. and Ketty Grossi from Italy, will join forces to take on the challenge of bringing the Night Watch to life in all its glory and original size using chalk. With their extraordinary skill and passion for street art, they will amaze the audience and capture the details and dramatic atmosphere of the masterpiece.

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, there will be an open Sunday in the Wilhelmshaven city center (Markstraße & NordseePassage) from 1 - 6 pm.
In the past eleven years of the festival, works of art on board have always been created in the NordseePassage. We have kept these pictures and are now exhibiting them together for the first time under the title "Art on Plate". You can find them in the NordseePassage. The exhibition is accessible at any time within the opening hours in the passage and can be visited free of charge.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 06-22 h
