Soon after the first edition of the festival it was clear: "It must go on!". And so the 2nd International StreetArt Festival took place in downtown Wilhelmshaven on August 3 & 4, 2012. Whereas last year there were 24 participants in the competition, this year a whole 34 artists laid their works of art at the feet of the festival visitors. The participants also became more international, with artists from Morocco, France and Romania taking part for the first time this year.
A special highlight of the second festival was the painting that the artist Gregor Wosik and his team created on Valois Square. The painting had a size of 1570 sqm and thus made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the "largest street painting in the world". The record brought the festival recognition and coverage from around the world and played a key role in raising the profile of the event.
The Children & Youth StreetArt Festival was again part of the program and delighted the young visitors.
On the sidelines of the festival there was another small highlight. In the run-up to the event, the festival team was contacted and asked if they could help organize a marriage proposal. And so another picture was taken with a portrait of the couple, which was then discovered "by chance". It seems to have made an impression, because she said "Yes!".
