The two great loves of Sara’s life are her daughter and chalk. Sara is originally from Utah, in the United States. She has been a lifelong artist working across many mediums including colored pencil, acrylic, henna, stained glass, and fiber arts (crocheting, knitting, sewing and quilting). She earned a BA in Fine Arts from Utah State University and discovered her love for chalk art in 2017 after attending a local festival.
Since then, she has been an active member of the local chalk community and recently has participated more on the national scene. She loves the temporary nature of chalk, and the meditative and performance nature of this art form. In particular, she loves the community, and the many friendships it’s brought into her life. Over the years, she has created both solo and collaborative pieces with friends and family. She has even started a mentorship program at home, teaching others who are interested in learning how to advance their skill with chalk, and become more involved in the community.
Sara is inspired by images that are “colorful and shiny,” as well as taking a closer look at objects, animals and faces. She excels at the use of vivid colors, strong contrasts, and detailed highlights and reflections.
By day, she works as a Financial Systems Analyst for ERM, a global environmental consulting firm, supported by a Master’s degree in Accounting and Management.
She has traveled to all 50 states, and 26 countries across six continents, and when she’s not chalking, she also teaches ballroom and social dance. In 2023, she became a first-time mom. Her daughter is already in love with chalk!
