Canaco Matsumoto, a unique Japanese madonnara, lives in Tokyo. She discovered her love for street art almost by chance when she went to Florence to study interior design and joined the Association of Madonnari there in 2006. Since then, all of her inspiration has gone into creating her original street art.
After two inspiring years in Italy, she returned to Japan in 2008 and began exploring the country’s street art scene. She was subsequently invited by over 70 cities to showcase her street art. She also organizes events that give children the opportunity to paint in the streets.
After establishing herself in Japan, she has been traveling the world since 2017, participating in numerous festivals across Europe, the United States, and Australia. She strives to express her life experiences as a Japanese artist and to convey her message through art in a humble yet powerful way. The focus of her painting remains on the beauty of everyday life as a public artwork, drawing on the skills of the Madonnari.
